Norwood, the specialist in demountable modular panelling systems has been awarded a contract to provide cleanroom partition walls and ceilings at a new state-of-the-art semiconductor facility for the KLA Corporation (“KLA”).

KLA develops industry-leading equipment and services that enable innovation throughout the electronics industry. They provide advanced process control and process-enabling solutions for manufacturing wafers and reticles, integrated circuits, packaging, printed circuit boards and flat panel displays.

Working for the appointed main contractor, CMB Engineering, Norwood will support a fit out of a research-and-development (R&D) and manufacturing centre for the SPTS division, in Newport, Wales, UK. The 200,000 square feet innovation centre and manufacturing facility will include offices, cleanrooms, storage and support facilities and accommodate up to 750 employees. The new development has been designed to meet BREEAM standard of sustainability rating of excellent.

Norwood is responsible for designing, manufacturing and installing made to measure, fire and non-fire-rated modular internal partitions of various thicknesses. The company will also provide internal glazing and suspended ceilings. This is in order to build over 25,000 square feet of cleanrooms for R&D and more than 35,000 square feet of bespoke manufacturing assembly halls.

Norwood will draw on its cleanroom experience, having already delivered several highly specified semiconductor facilities with CMB Engineering in the semiconductor cluster in south Wales.

Norwood’s customizable steel partition system will create sustainable and flexible spaces, which can be easily adapted in response to client’s changing needs in this high-tech industry.
